| SPOUSAL RELOCATION TRANSITION OVERVIEW The Spousal Transition Program outlined below is a comprehensive and systematic process by which professionals are assisted in successfully finding appropriate new employment. The process helps the affected professional to be proactive in seeking a new work situation. The program emphasizes: A. A marketing approach to career transition B. The development of critical communications skills C. A process for giving ongoing guidance during the job search DESCRIPTION The Spousal Relocation Transition Program is designed to assist in locating the right career situation as quickly as possible with minimum trauma. The program has three phases: I. Career and Marketability Assessment II. Communication Skills Development/Enhancement III. Market Plan and Search Campaign Management A full-time career consultant works with the individual, as a Program Manager in one-on-one and small group settings, through all three phases. Phase I includes the use of several career interest tests which help to clarify skills, interests, motivation, and other personality characteristics and to determine appropriate career directions. Phase II includes completion of a resume and networking training, together with communication and job interview training (which utilize extensive video tape recording and playback reviews). Phase III includes developing an action step, a date driven market plan which effectively utilizes published and hidden job markets. Also, the consultant serves as a campaign manager, providing periodic individualized job search coaching and consultation. Services are delivered at the York Career Development office. On-going counseling and office support can be provided when necessary. Additional support is also available. COMPONENTS Preliminary Steps Phase I - Career and Marketability Assessment A.
