How to Take Control of Your Life
LIFE PLANNING AFTER 50
Presented by Norman and Madeleine York

Realities
  • Of the 76 million Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, over a million will live past the age of 100; over 10 million will live past the age of 90!
  • AARP estimates that 80% of the Boomers will work past the age of 65!
  • Women who reach 50 cancer free can expect to live to 93!
  • With care, the human body can be expected to function from 140 to 150 years.

More Realities

  • By the year 2020, 20% of the population will be 65 or older!
  • Between 1995 and 2050, Americans aged 85 or over will increase from 3.6 million to 18.2 million!
  • Few of the Boomers will have the employment equity necessary to retire in the traditional sense.
  • Few people die of old age, but rather from the consequences of failing to maintain good physical and mental health!

Choices

  • Happiness--is the result of our thoughts and feelings which we can control to create a consciousness of joy and peace of mind!
  • Good Health--is the result of practicing good physical and mental health habits based on our attitudes and expectations!
  • Happy Relationships--are created by our responses toward others who respond to positive changes in our attitudes toward them!
  • Life Purpose--is achieved through work, volunteering or some useful activity that provides the meaning necessary to maintain vitality!
